HISTORY
Discovery of X-Ray
1895
DISCOVERY OF X-RAY
X-rays were discovered in 1895 by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in his laboratory at Wuerzburg University in Germany. He covered a cathode-ray tube in heavy black paper and found that a green light escaped and projected a fluorescent glow. He concluded that the mysterious ray could pass through most substances casting shadows of solids objects. He called them “X”, meaning “unknown”.

1914
FIRST PORTABLE X-RAY SYSTEMS
In 1914 Marie Curie developed portable X-ray systems to support battlefield surgeons in World War I. These systems allowed for a rapid X-ray imaging to locate bullets in wounded soldiers.

X-RAY FOR INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL PURPOSES
Since the early 1920s, industrial radiography allowed radiographs to be produced in a reasonable amount of time. X-ray machines were also developed and sold to commercial shoe stores. They were used to assist in the fitting of shoes. Health concerns regarding the impact of X-ray exposure were expressed in the 50s, leading to the end of this practise.

1947
RADIOLOGIA S.A. WAS FOUNDED
Radiologia was founded in 1947 to address the scientific and technological challenges in medicine during the second half of 20th century. With a wide range of solutions, Radiologia has led to the emergence and development of radiology systems in the Spanish market.
1957
RADIOLOGIA S.A. COMMITTED TO TACKLING HEALTH CONCERNS
The launch of Microdentix by Radiologia SA achieved a great advanced to tackle the health concerns of the X-ray. This dentistry X-ray system reduced the exposure time to decrease the impact of the radiation to the patient.
Only a year later, Radiologia SA also improved the power of the portable equipment with the launch of Transportix.

THE CONSOLIDATION OF RADIOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT
During the 1960s, the consolidation and refinement of radiological systems took place. In 1961, Radiologia SA developed one of the first remote-controlled X-ray and Fluoroscopy equipment, called Radiotelex. It became the first full design of an X-ray room.

COMPUTERS ON PLANNING TREATMENT
Computers began to be used for new imaging technologies. The first analogue-digital converters appeared, allowing Radiologia SA to develop in 1970 the first digital fluoroscopy equipment, called Radioscop. Digital radiography was developed in the mid-80s, however, digital radiography images were not a reality until the beginning of next decade, and therefore Radiology S.A. focused on the development of generators with solid-state high voltage rectifiers, such as the Tetravolt and Siliciux/RST series..

FULL INTEGRATED X-RAY ROOMS
In 1983, Radiologia SA developed the MOVIL-I X-ray room. During this decade, a new version for the portable Transportix as well as an universal compact device were launched.

HIGH FREQUENCY GENERATORS
The lack of advances in conventional radiology techniques makes Radiology S.A. keep developing generators during this decade. In 1996, the first high frequency generator RST-HF of 60kw was launch. The same year, Radiologia SA launched a range of compact X-ray DPC systems.

INTEGRATION WITH SEDECAL GROUP
In 2001, Radiologia became part of Sedecal group, which resources and global experience have led to the export of 30% of its total manufactured equipment.
During this decade, Radiologia has experienced a strong growth manufacturing a new portfolio of X-ray systems, like the new ceiling suspensions and rooms Polyrad in 2002 and the first universal digital system Universal XPlus in 2005.

2010s
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Developments in digital technology were already being observed in all radiology fields, mammography inclusive. From 2010, Radiologia has been reengineering its Femina Digital equipment for any type of digital mammography exam, including breast tomosynthesis.
During this decade, the digital radiography also is included in the new series of digital Radiosurgical arm-C, called Omniscop FP.

2020s
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT
The aim of Radiologia consists in the development of equipment for the maximum performance and comfort in the work environment. The new range of digital products like the C-Arms Omniscop and Pioneer mobile systems has introduced great advances due to their flexibility to adapt to any work environment.
In 2020, Radiologia has installed more than 500 digital radiology systems across Spain.
